St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is renowned for going above and beyond for its patients. Treating the untreatable, founder Danny Thomas has been quoted saying, “No child should die in the dawn of life.” We, the students of Miami Dade College Physician Assistant program, friends, co-workers, and family members of Joaquin Roberto Vaca Mancheno ask St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to reconsider his acceptance for treatment. Joaquin, a bright 4 year old boy at the dawn of his life, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He currently lives in Ecuador and has stopped responding to all efforts put forth by the hospitals where he has been managed. His family members are hopeful that acceptance into St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will give him the treatment that he requires to overcome his battle against Leukemia. We thank you for your time and consideration and once more urge St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to consider giving Joaquin what may be his only chance.
