Stop the inhumane treatment of feral cats in St. Anthony ID
The Issue
Residents in the city of St. Anthony Idaho were complaining that there were too many feral cats in the city. The St. Anthony city council responded with their "solution" that people having problems with feral cats can request a trap from the city at no expense to them. The city just asks that they return the traps empty. They advised their citizens that "They can do whatever, we just don’t want [the cats],” he said. “Just bring us back the live traps.”
The city of St. Anthony is advocating, condoning, and inferring citizens should harm or kill feral cats instead of offering a humane solution like funding a shelter (Mayor David Powell states that is not an option), offering low cost or free spay/neuter among other options. Mayor Powell stated “We’re just trying to address a problem that’s been brought up”.This solution is not acceptable, humane, or legal, and needs to be immediately rescinded and halted.
