ICAXS, to cease in giving unnecessary workload to stabilize the well-being of the students
The Issue
Students have been given workload which has either not been taught or too much to accomplish within the given time. We understand that due to ODL, we have a limited time for lectures but dumping this much unnecessary 'requirements' drains us. With all due respect, as fellow members of the student body, we speak on the behalf of the whole grade school and high school departments, for Immaculate Conception Academy and Xavier School does not prioritize its student's mental health and well-being. The use of the mindful exercise should not be a valid reason to expect students to fulfill the tasks given at hand, especially when it is always unessential to the point we don't learn anything anymore.
From directly facing screens with our backs slowly hunching on a daily basis at such a young age, to being unable to understand the lecture, don't you think enough is enough? We know that teachers and staff members have it hard too, but no matter what our social standing is or even age, we're only humans and yes, we do deserve a break. Our main issue right now is the pandemic, not academics and it has only been a week yet believe it or not, mental illnesses are real. Your students can't handle so much stress in one sitting. Not to mention, not all students have access to proper internet or signal yet, this is still 'not a valid excuse' when it comes to attendance. Believe me, we try to join our classes. Again, please be reminded that it is always more practical to choose QUALITY over quantity.
All we ask is for work that actually helps us understand the lessons. We are really so exhausted for school isn't our only priority, especially in the midst of this pandemic wherein other various problems arise. ICA and Xavier, do better.
This does not only target ICA and Xavier School Greenhills, but DepEd and all the other schools as well. It may be best to implement a gap year or an academic freeze. Please do consider that our generation right now will be the ones leading the future. #nostudentleftbehind
