Demand Square Enix release FF7 remake as a full game

The Issue

Dear Square Enix Holdings CO. LTD. In this petition, I express what fans of your works have wanted for close to 20 years. This is a means to relive the experience that innovated and forever changed the gaming industry forever. Final Fantasy 7 is a game that means the world to us as fans. We were captivated and inspired by the masterfully executed characters written and designed to touch our hearts. We as fans spent fragments of our lives investing in the beautiful world that was created for us to explore both in narrative and in freedom of gameplay. It was the countless hours we spent in this world such as chocobo racing to the finish line or moments such as being lost in the splendor of Golden Saucer that made us feel a part of something far greater. Moments that made us feel above and beyond our physical selves and at the same time apart of our heroes whether we became professional snowboarders, or sword wielding motorcyclists.

As a child whom was the son of a two time cancer patient, when my mother fell gravely ill, I found both a world that comforted me in the affirmations of doubt as well as hope to remember that I was not going to surrender to such doubt. I found a game that served as a medium for the first time, to affirm my feelings of not quite understanding myself but understanding the journey and pain as well as heartfelt joy we must feel to survive and become greater than ourselves, for not just ourselves but the ones we fight for. It is for this heartfelt infallible memory I and undeniably we as gamers felt in our childhood that guides us to demand that we never lose sight of what made this experience soo special for us all. In the recent announcement that Final Fantasy 7 HD remake would be segregated as an episodic release, we as fans quickly understood the ramifications of such a decision. A decision that would piece meal and degrade the overall purpose of what made our experience soo special, the ability to be invested in a story we felt empowered by. The implications of a segregated release would not only imply a complete element of freedom being gone as we would have no means to access a world map of the magnitude of the original, but we would also fundamentally be deprived of the entire narrative. To segregate the narrative and punish us as gamers unless we not only payed a premium, But waited for a release that wasn't bound to a single game is unacceptable. It is only fair to ourselves as fans of the series and people whom hold such an adventure in our hearts, to not be compromised by a decision that alienates fans by creating a punishment to experience the story we have waited for for 20 years. There is absolutely no excuse that Square Enix could convince those of technical competency that they could not fit an such an undertaking on 2 Blu Ray discs maximum considering a dual layer Blu Ray disc is capable of fitting 50GB per disc. If companies such as CD Project Red can make masterful titles such as Witcher 3 with a fraction of Square Enix's resources and create a world that easily encompasses the scope of size of that of any Final Fantasy universe, we as fans see no excuse what so ever as to why Sqaure Enix is not capable of better.

As a large scale buisness such as Square Enix, it is understandable and both justifiable to reap as much reward out of the fruits of your labor as possible. We have absolutely no doubt as fans that as developers and content providers Square Enix are some of the finest in the entire world. It is also understandable that as a freelance 3D designer myself, that those involved in creating such masterful works inevitably should be rewarded and comended for their works. We as fans are willing to do that and more, but it is of my belief that you should reward fans for their support, not punish them. It is a grand mistake many in the gaming industry are making including formerly loved companies such Capcom and Konami, and as such passionate fans of the series, we want more than anything to see the company we admire and respect soo much not go down the same path. For this reason, you would ask how should we go about providing said content for you then? Make content that will reward us as fans. There are many ideas I believe would garner further success for such an endeavor without having to punish anyone, neither the game developers whom slave so hard to create what we want, nor the fans. Specifically strategies that would make both sides be at fair ends would include DLC that would optionally but assuredly expand on fans commitment to the series. One idea could be the release of a classic DLC pack, that for 15-25 dollars would allow one to play the game as Chibi models of our favorite characters just like the original. The classic pack could also include classic sound effects and an old school soundtrack option, as well as the possibility to toggle a turn-based combat mode with the same or newer models that would provide nostalgia and gameplay to the fans. Another Idea would be to create a costume DLC pack for 10 dollars to allow players to toggle costumes such as a character in their Advent Children costume, or other possibilities such as a Cloud cross dressing costume in combat :] . Mini games such as chocobo racing could be expanded upon to have online functionality with a microtransaction system to help those whom are impatient costuming their chocobo with different accessories. All of these options are means that could if executed correctly reward both the dedicated fan and the content provider. Monetarily such strategies as cosmetic and expanded DLC, and micro-transaction so when executed correctly have proven to be massively successful buisness models. As a content provider myself on a a far smaller scale, I know ideas such as this wouldn't be that hard to execute.

It is up to us as fans to decide how we want to demand that Square Enix recreates one of our most beloved classics. We can settle for strategy that punishes the narrative and fans by cutting parts of it into segments, or we can expect more from a game that desperately deserves more. It is up to us, and it is up to you, as well as the brilliant minds at Square Enix to listen to our desires to experience the game they have promised to us. If we are passionately flustered it's because we love you Square Enix, we do this out of tough love..
