Tomb Raider is a beloved franchise that many people hold dear. The character Lara Croft is an icon, a legend who has had a major impact on women in gaming. She was rare back in her day, starting in 1996, and would go on to become one of the worlds most iconic female characters. She was so beloved during her initial phase that it spawned multiple sequels and two movies starring the actress Angelina Jolie. She was a character that was bigger than life and choose to carve out her own path and chart her own course through destiny which she controlled. She was someone who many found themselves aspiring to be. While some may have not been too thrilled with her original design, the character however gathered a following who understood her and always wished to see more Lara Croft. The blue top with the brown shorts, the braid combined with her iconic dual pistols became a sensation around the world. She spawned comics, advertisements, and novels based on this fun and sporty character. 

Over time however her games had not gained as much traction as they originally did, forcing her character to be rebooted twice. Some blamed the games themselves not evolving enough to retain interest, while others blamed poor management of such an iconic brand. Whatever the case maybe the current state of the franchise is not one that all fans are happy about. While the recent reboot has allowed Tomb Raider to regain traction within the world and amass a new following of fans, many of those who grew up with the character weren't too thrilled with all of the changes that had to be made to get there. The reboots of her character has caused multiple rifts within the community, causing many to fight, bicker, and generally feel upset to see their hero and icon not being treated with the similar respect as her male counter parts, most of which who to this very day still retain much of what made them so loved and iconic. 

Newer fans have also had their problems with the current iteration as they feel like she hasn't been handled with the best care, actually regressing from the spitfire she had already become at the end of 2013's reboot. While some can find key points and elements to love about the current iteration, a lot of the fan base tend to agree that they would like to see a return in some forum of the classic character. Make no mistake the newer iteration of the character had become a world wide sensation over the course of just one game. The 2013 reboot recaptured the attention of the world, spawning a brand new line of comics and movies that many fans loved and enjoyed. Alicia Vikander had been very well received as Lara Croft in the latest Tomb Raider film and over all the reboots have built their own foundation to stand on, strong and determined to go on. 

However, fans have not forgotten about her previous iterations of the character and feel like by the end of the reboot trilogy that she should have at least acquired some traits of her classic counter part in order to feel more complete. However this didn't happen and despite the many promises and teases that have happened, like the dual pistols at the end of 2013, she never ended up anywhere close to what she once was and what she once stood for. This has caused fans to ask, plead, and beg those that control her brand and her image to liken her character to that of her classic counter part. Even newer fans who discovered Tomb Raider due to the current reboot have asked for certain elements to return. While not everyone can agree on exactly what those elements are, most agree that they would at least like to see the dual's return, her personality full of wit and sass to return, and for her image to be a modern interpretation or reflection of her classic counter part. 

That is why this petition has been created and why we ask the powers that be to reconsider their choices on the direction to take the current character. Note this is not a plea to remove and erase the current reboot, this is mostly a plea instead for the powers that be to be more inclusive of the classic counter part and to include either her or her trademarks in the franchise going forward. 

If you agree that you would like to see her classic character to return in some forum, be it her trademarks like the dual pistols, her classic outfit, personality, or the classic character herself, or if you just would like some more general inclusiveness of the classic fan-base within the franchise then sign this petition in the hopes that the powers that be will hear our voices and understand that this isn't a rejection of the current iteration, but a plea for more inclusivity and diversity going into the franchise from this point on in the forum of classic Lara Croft and/or her trademarks.
