SQA Remark 2024

The Issue

Petition to Urge SQA to Reassess Candidates with Significant Grade Drops

This petition is launched in response to the alarming number of candidates across Scotland who have experienced a drastic drop in their grades compared to their predicted results. Many students, who have shown consistent academic performance throughout the year and achieved impressive results in prelims, are now facing the devastating reality of receiving grades that are significantly lower, often falling to Cs and Ds, despite strong assignments and exam preparations.

The recent changes in grading practices, which have introduced the removal of COVID benefits and limited options for marking reviews, are not only unfair but detrimental to students' futures. It is particularly disheartening to see individuals who have maintained a high standard of work receive abnormally low grades, preventing them from applying to their desired universities and pursuing their academic aspirations.

We believe that the SQA must take action to address this issue. We are calling for a comprehensive remark of all candidates who have  strangely dropped from their predicted results or have sufficient evidence of a higher grade. This is not just about correcting a flawed system; it’s about giving students a fair chance to succeed and move forward in their education.

We urge the SQA to recognize the significant impact that these grade discrepancies have on students’ lives and futures. Every candidate deserves a fair evaluation that reflects their true capabilities and efforts.

Join us in advocating for justice and equity in the grading process. Sign this petition to demand that the SQA carry out a thorough review and remark for those who have experienced significant and unjustified grade drops this year.

Thank you for your support.
