We Want Renovation for Better Education!
The Issue
FACT SHEET
WE WANT RENOVATIONS, NOT NEW CONSTRUCTION THAT WILL CAUSE….
1. A major tax increase for residences and businesses over the next
20-25 years, as a new building is projected to cost $131,000,000 (Saxer option) to $136,400,000 (Leamy option);
2. Irresponsible spending that will divert limited resources from core educational priorities, extra-curricular activities, and sports;
3. Higher school taxes leading to lower property values, similar to the current situation in Ridley;
4. Major disruptions to recently renovated athletic fields and sports programs during construction;
5. Permanent traffic congestion, potentially resulting in pedestrian and vehicular accidents;
6. Proposed closure of Rolling Road between Saxer and Leamy Avenues, creating significant traffic flow disruptions; and
7. Potential teacher layoffs and program cuts, as seen in neighboring school districts where the residents allowed their school board to build a new school without objecting, resulting in higher taxes and not having enough in their budget to maintain the school and curriculum properly.
RENOVATION IS A WI$ER AND MORE SENSIBLE CHOICE!!
