Unfortunately, it's not difficult to find horrific stories of animal abuse, neglect or abandonment, even in our community. A quick browse through local animal shelters', like Rescue One, social media accounts depicts descriptions of animals who have been maliciously abandoned, beaten or even shot and are now in the care of rescuers. While the city of Springfield does have laws regarding animal abuse, neglect and abandonment, enforcement is difficult because of a lack of resources and funding. I propose that the city of Springfield provide funding and resources to enforce laws against animal cruelty.
