Stop the Development of Children’s Home Property (304 Branham Hughes Circle)
The Issue
This petition is to stop the development currently being proposed for the Tennessee Children’s Home property located at 304 Branham Hughes Circle, Spring Hill, TN 37174. The property sits at the very heart of Spring Hill, and would be both a traffic nightmare, and a terrible use of that land.
Spring Hill is already known as a bedroom community This development would do nothing to change that as it would not add to the quality of life of its citizens. In fact, it would ruin the quaintness of our town, destroy the historical significance and integrity, and deprive our community of the central gathering place it so desperately needs.
According to the map included in the plans, much of the space is covered in asphalt parking lot, leaving very little green space/park space. The green space notated is hardly enough for the size of our community and would hardly be enough room for festivals, gatherings, etc.
This development does not align with the Spring Hill Rising plan and goes AGAINST the downtown area zoning plan. It’s imperative that the City keeps to the plan already laid in all of its decision-making if they want to see that plan actually come to fruition.
This development would also hurt the local business currently existing directly next to this property by driving traffic away from Historic Spring Hill. The connector road (upgrading School St to McLemore) that is being proposed will not be enough to ease any negative impact on those businesses.
Additionally, the roads surrounding the property and properties adjacent already struggle to keep up with the population increase. Any additional housing in that area at this time will be detrimental to the current infrastructure if that is not addressed first. Alllowing this development to happen without improvements to transportation issues will be a catastrophic mistake.
If you are a resident against this development and would rather see this land developed for a more practical and beneficial use for this community, please sign this petition. Thank you.
