Update petisiChildren of Singapore need team sports, at least outdoors! Some hope, but still an uphill battle for sports clubs and venues

Good evening everyone,

The good news is that we are seeing some progress with a number of 5 v 5 pilots being conducted in dedicated public venues, and private venues now being able to apply to conduct such pilots.

The not so good news is that the proposed protocols remain extremely conservative, and I am really wondering how those can be logistically implemented for every day training sessions, let alone the financial impact associated with testing every single player prior to every single session. ARTs are not cheap in Singapore.

I'm hoping that reason will prevail and that SportSG and the MOH will realise that it is simply not sustainable to impose systematic ARTs to allow for groups of 10 people to train together, outdoors for the majority, with limited contact...

Assuming children under 12 can soon be vaccinated, there is some light at the end of the tunnel if the relevant authorities eventually ease restrictions such that vaccination becomes the only condition, at least for matches and training within a single club, and that ARTs (if still imposed - hopefully not) are only required for interclub league matches and tournaments where commingling risk is more relevant.

Please keep sharing, supporting and talking about this, it's so important for our children.

Thank you
