Save a Team, Save a Town

Save a Team, Save a Town
The Issue
This is not about me. Major League Baseball, whose teams are worth an average of $1.78 billion, is contracting 42 minor league teams with a combined savings to MLB of a mere $60 million, or $1,428,571 per team. The MLB players with the largest contracts can save these teams by contributing less than 10 days pay. It would take Mike Trout just under six games to save a team. It would take the top eight pitchers, based upon their salaries, each, just two starts to save a team. Save a team, save a town is designed to keep these minor league teams from being axed, thus saving thousands of jobs both in the stadium and in the town. Let's help these towns keep their teams, keep their people employed, and keep the culture and history of America's pastime alive. Let's remind the major leaguers making the top salaries today, that they were once riding the buses from Billings to Missoula. They are now in a position to give back with little pain to their pocket. Again, this is not for me. This is for the thousands and thousands of faceless, nameless Americans who stand to lose more than just their team. Save a team, save a town.
