Sport England: Please don't support angling giving £1.8m to the Angling Trust

Ask Sport England not to support angling

Sport England has announced its largest ever investment in the ‘sport’ of angling. It will be giving £1.8m to the Angling Trust over the next four years to increase the number of people who fish recreationally and to encourage occasional anglers to fish regularly. Sport England is also looking to establish a national competition structure for angling in the UK.

Angling is a cruel activity that causes pain, suffering and death to countless fish who are pierced with hooks and dragged into the air to suffocate. It is also harmful to other wildlife who become tangled in broken or discarded fishing line and swallow hooks.

Please don't support angling giving £1.8m to the Angling Trust.

Angling is a cruel activity that causes pain, suffering and death to countless fish who are pierced with hooks and dragged into the air to suffocate. It is also harmful to other wildlife who become tangled in broken or discarded fishing line and swallow hooks.

We respectfully ask Sport England to reconsider their funding to this cruel sport.

Thank you.

With kindest regards.
