Last Friday, 9th June, local residents Patti Taylor & Roisin Kennedy met with MP Kwasi Kwarteng, Cllr Olivia Rybinski, Cllr Maureen Attewell, Cllr Matthew Lee, Cllr Anant Mathur & Cllr Buddhi Weerasinghe, Chief Executive of Spelthorne Council Daniel Mouawad and Dan Burton - Community Engagement Manager from Shepperton Studios. The reason for the meeting was to reinvigorate the initiative which Patti Taylor & Olivia Rybinski have been working on for almost a decade!
Given Shepperton Studios large expansion and the real need for better transport options, cost of travel and ease of commuting for not only the Studios but many businesses and schools within the borough to attract the best calibre of employees for Spelthorne, there needs to be a real drive to achieve this goal.
There is no doubt Covid-19 had an effect on the way people work and the revenue for the transport industry, but this initiative is very important to many residents and with Council and Councillors support, along with our MP Kwasi Kwarteng, we feel we now have a very good economic business case for Zone 6. Our MP has some actions going forward and we hope to update everyone as we progress.
