Thank you to everyone who have signed the petition to get Spelthorne stations into Zone 6 and to bring the use of Oyster and contactless payment to our stations.  We urge you to keep sharing the petition with friends, colleagues and relatives so that we keep growing. There is work being done behind the scenes to try and secure this facility within Spelthorne, and the petition really helps to show just how much support we have.

To have the backing of Spelthorne Borough Council and businesses within Spelthorne is very important and we hope that our continued work will one day lead to success. The current system does not allow for part time workers to get the best price for their journey. It also has an economical affect on employment as workers can be attracted to employers within the TFL zone so that they can travel with ease. Spelthorne has a lot to offer, with many headquarters in our borough, good schools and excellent facilities; it should have a ticket system to match this fantastic borough!

 The borough of Spelthorne, which is just outside London but within the M25 has key commuter stations which currently lack the facility to travel into London without the use of a paper ticket and overpriced fares. Our stations are also used by travellers in and out of London Heathrow Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, yet they are not able to use the same ticketing provisions as they would in London.

 The TFL zoning area spans far and wide and therefore it is not a matter of distance from London, we have been left “forgotten” and other Surrey stations are included within TFL Zone 6, such as Thames Ditton and Hampton. Our work has been to persuade Transport for London, South Western Railway and the Department for Transport.
