Kristin Noyce started this petition to Speedway

Hello! Thank you so much for clicking on my petition! I know the problem may seem small at first, but I heavily implore that you read until the end to see the full picture.

So, today I was told by my kind General Manager that our District Manager had come into today, saw my bridge piercing, and said it was against company policy to have. I was very upset, piercings cost money to get done! Corporate is not the one who paid $40 to have a needle shoved through the bridge of their nose, on top of $15 as I had an allergic reaction to the initial jewelry put in. Not only that, but due to the type of piercing I have, I have to physically go to a piercing shop and pay more money out of my own pocket just to get it taken out.

Keep in mind too, my experience is just one example of many. I'm not the only one who's had to go through this! How many people do you see at your local Speedway who are either in their late teens to somewhere in their 20s? Personally, I've seen so many people who fit into that age range! I work with them! That being said, I do not think it's fair to rob them of both their money in the long run, and the freedom of expression they should be allowed to have in their youth! How does me having metal in my nose at all impair my ability to work? Not ONLY that, but by allowing these policies to continue, Speedway is supporting the very people who want to keep us in our shells; Supporting the stigma that piercings, tattoos, and the like are somehow unprofessional! I will say, tattoos and colored hair are allowed, and that's awesome. I'm grateful to be given that much expression as I know many other places wouldn't even allow that! However, I think it's very backhanded to say only some of it is allowed, and not all of it. My jewelry is not dangly, it is not a hazard to my work, but instead is merely a judge of mine (and many others) character.

As far as customers go, it's actually been an interesting conversation piece for some that come in! Other than that, a large majority do not seem to care. As long as I'm doing my job and providing them with quality customer service, that should be what matters, right?

I am asking you to please, sign this petition. Make Speedway change their policies to allow more freedom of expression! By doing this, we end the stigma that piercings, tattoos, and colored hair (and anything else in this category) are somehow unprofessional. We only have one life, one! Think about how insane that is! I, and many others, don't want to waste it unhappy with how we look. We should be able to live our youth feeling fulfilled and happy with ourselves! And if a piece of metal in our face does that, then why shouldn't we do it? Not only that, but by starting with Speedway, maybe one day we can make the rest of the world willing to be more open too. It all starts with us. We have a voice, and we should absolutely use it!

The photo shown is an image of my face along with the piercing company policy has an issue with.

DISCLAIMER: Due to company policy, I have to mention that I do not speak for Speedway. I may work for them, but they (obviously) did not tell me to post this. Dunno if I need this disclaimer, but just to be safe, I thought I should put one.
