It has been a long time since the COVID-19 Pandemic halted everything. I am excited about getting the second vaccine, and everybody being vaccinated so we can get back to play. My condolences to the families of the people who died from COVID-19. I was able to talk to Jeff Vermillion, the Senior Director of Field Operations. I let him know about returning the State Swim Meet back to The Ohio State University's McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion; making Individual/Team Bowling Tournaments as separate events and having Regional Tournament Qualifiers instead of League Play because Tournaments are the best way to determine who would compete for the State Summer Games; I have suggested Open Water Swimming and Triathlon at Ohio Beaches and State Parks; Making Regional Swim Qualifiers an All Day events; and returning all skating events like figure, roller, and speed skating events to Special Olympics Ohio. Jeff got back with and thanked me for the email, and liked my ideas of improving swimming and bowling at the State and Regional Level. He appreciated my ideas of adding new sports would be considered. Jeff cannot make any promises and he will be sure to take my recommendations and pass them along to their Sports and Program Team and Regional Managers for further discussion. I know State Winter Indoor Games for Basketball, Cheerleading, and Swimming will still be at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) after we are out of this Pandemic. I am enclosing a link for more signatures for "Eliminate the Maximum Effort Rule at State of Ohio Special Olympics Swimming" that needs 213+ signatures to make a 1,000. Please share this and my petition to "Returning the State Swim Meet for Special Olympics Ohio back to Columbus, Ohio" where I need to get 277 more signatures to reach 500. I want wish everyone a Happy Passover and Happy Easter weekend; and please get your vaccines with staying safe. Thank you so much. We will get back to way things, but we need to hold on much longer.
