It is now 2020 and thank you so much for signing my petition on Returning the State Swim Meet for Special Olympics Ohio back to Columbus, Ohio. I have heard about The Ohio State University wanting to charge Special Olympics Ohio to use the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion; but there is a certain employee(s) at Special Olympics Ohio who have connections in the Toledo and Northwest Ohio areas. However, I am not naming any names, but some of you may know who it is. Right now, I cannot name any names. It is important for all sides to get together and get the State Swim Meet for Special Olympics Ohio back to its rightful home in Columbus, Ohio on The Ohio State University campus area at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. They made a few great changes to benefit the athletes. For example, swimmers can swim 3 individual events and a relay. Before that change, swimmers could only do 2 individual events and a relay. The staff at Special Olympics Ohio could made the changes slowly and gradually; instead of all at once for many sporting events such as swimming, bowling, etc. Special Olympics Ohio discontinued Roller Skating, Figure Skating, and Speed Skating; and still have competitions on the local level. Cleveland Special Olympics athlete and figure skater Sharita Taylor competed in the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria in figure skating representing Ohio and the United States. I do not know what the staff of Special Olympics Ohio were thinking when they decided end the skating programs and continue on the local level. Back to the State Swim Meet, I still feel for the people who live in Cincinnati, Dayton, Athens, and the southern part of the state of Ohio to travel 4-5 hours plus depending on winter road conditions to get to Bowling Green. I would appreciate you to spreading the word around to help reach 200 signatures; with your help; we can get to the State Swim Meet back to its original home at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on The Ohio State University campus area and to make it easy for people all over Ohio to travel. Thank you again for signing and wish you a Happy New Year. Mission will be accomplished and the State Swim Meet will back on The Ohio State University campus area at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in 2021 and beyond. Thank you for you support and it shall be done!
