Special Needs population will suffer when the DHCS REDUCES FEES BY 50% to Denti-cal providers. Developmental and Physically Disabled individuals that have been receiving care each quarter will now be left with even fewer providers to treat them when fees are drastically cut. The extreme reduction will force many providers ( mostly women who are RDHAP's) who go to the places these individuals live to provide dental hygiene services will be forced to discontinue these services because they will not be able to afford to sustain their Practices. Many of the underserved are wards of the state, who do not have families to see to their dental needs. A Once-a-year cleaning under general anesthesia is not the way to treat an individual who has a complicated medical history, especially since for more then 20 years RDHAP's have been doing services without anesthesia in the convenience of the individual's residence.
