Petition For Congress to Censure Rep. Madison Cawthorn

Rep. Madison Cawthorn helped to recruit and incite the domestic terrorists who attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 … and now he’s at it again. At a Macon County (NC) GOP event on August 29th, Rep. Cawthorn said:
"These people [Democrats] do not have your best interests at heart... We all need to be storing up some ammunition."
“If our election systems continue to be rigged, continue to be stolen, it’s going to lead to one place and that’s bloodshed.”
“As much as I am willing to defend our liberty at all costs, there’s nothing that I would dread doing more than having to pick up arms against a fellow American.”
"I will remove Joe Biden from office, and then when Kamala Harris inevitably screws up we will take them down one at a time."
When asked, “When are you going to call us to Washington again?” Cawthorn responded, “We are actively working on that one. We have a few plans in motion I can’t make public right now, but this is something that we’re working on."
Referring to the January 6th insurrectionists who are in pretrial or post-trial confinement, Cawthorn said, "The big problem is we don't actually know where all the political prisoners are. And so if we were to actually be able to go and try and bust them out — and let me tell you, the reason why they're taking these political prisoners is because they're trying to make an example, because they don't want to see the mass protests going on in Washington."
"They want to come in and take your children away and try and put them in indoctrination camps. I don't even call them public schools anymore because they don't work in the public interest." and "I believe that most of these four-year degree universities are really useless." [He is a member of the House Committee on Education and Labor.]
Cawthorn’s brand of incendiary rhetoric, fanned by the Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen, is deceptive and dangerous, and it is unacceptable coming from anyone, particularly a sitting member of Congress. It is time for Rep. Cawthorn to be held accountable for his reckless conduct. Speaker Pelosi and Minority Leader McCarthy must exercise their authority under Article 1, Section 5, Clause 2 of the Constitution and censure Rep. Cawthorn for the statements he made on August 29th.
