Hello. I am a current resident of Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. I am petitioning to have our animal control bylaw officer replaced. It has come to my attention and the attention of several others that she is NOT following proper bylaw protocols, she is unreasonable and unprofessional. Myself among many other residents have been victim to Jaime Speicer (bylaw officer) She has taken away family fur babies and have made it impossible to get them home where they belong. I myself had contacted her due to our emotional support animal being at large, I was told to pay the fee and pick him up the next day, while I followed all proper protocol she did not, leaving my children’s ESA impounded for 19 days! She just recently had taken a families puppy and is threatening to have them put up for adoption, even though again they have followed all proper procedures. 2 years ago she allowed 2 animals to viscously attack a young woman, but would not euthanaize them (though our bylaw states that any animal who is vicious should be destroyed on site) we are tired of coming out of our pockets to pay for this woman to keep falsely taking our beloved pets. She does not even live in Cumberland County. Her girlfriend runs the shelter that she brings these animals to, and she has stated it’s about money. She has NO compassion or care towards anyone. If you are a bylaw officer you are there to INFORCE the rules, not make your own!
