Mark your calendars… On Thursday, February 19th, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will present a resolution for the designation of a section of Pilgrim Mill Road as the “SPC Zachary Evan Steele Memorial Road,” in his memory. The meeting will be held at the Forsyth County Administration Building 📍 110 E Main Street, Cumming, GA 30040 5pm EST 2/19/2026 The meeting is open to the public, and we would truly love for anyone who is able to attend and show their support. On July 22, 2025, while traveling on Pilgrim Mill Road on his way to report for duty at his unit's armory, Zachary was involved in a tragic accident when a box truck turned in front of him. He sustained fatal injuries and passed away at the scene. Zachary was dedicated to his country, his community, and his fellow soldiers. He is remembered for his courage, kindness, and sense of duty. To honor his service and sacrifice, the Steele family and community members are requesting that a portion of Pilgrim Mill Road be designated as the "SPC Zachary Evan Steele Memorial Road." This memorial would serve as a lasting reminder of Zachary's devotion to his state and nation - and of all the men and women of the Georgia Army National Guard who serve with honor.
