The Issue

During a mentally and physically abusive relationship I found myself to be pregnant. Not wanting to bring a child into a toxic environment,  I made the very tough decision to terminate the pregnancy. This has been the most difficult decision I have ever made in my life,  especially considering my main goal in life is to have a family of my own with a life partner who I love. I am fortunately now in a position where I am with someone and are to be happily married may 2018. Prior to our engagement, we had already started trying for a baby and 2 years on this is unsuccessful. My partner has a daughter who is 6 years old who we love so much, because of this I am being denied the rights to becoming a mother as our NHS trust like many others will not fund for any fertility treatment and have told us we need a minimum £8000 to get started. This has put a massive strain on our relationship although we are fighting strong together. We have been told that we can appeal but there is a 0% success rate from these appeals. Mentally, this is almost impossible news for us to take,  especially with me now having to face the fact that I aborted my chance to be a mother which was a difficult enough  decision to make in the first instance. I feel that every fertility treatment request should be actioned based on the individual situation,  not to be treated as a same case scenario and being told 'we have to have a cut off point and you are the cut off.'  I want this petition to get out to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by infertility and the lack of support for the mental struggles which hoping pare to face when dealing with this and to also make changes within the system to allow people a fair chance. Please please sign and share this petition to raise awareness and make life changing differences!
