Friends,
The public meeting on the Strong’s yacht warehouse project on Mattituck Inlet was everything we expected: We brought a big lineup of experts and neighbors sporting SMI buttons and blue ribbons – and we brought one extremely large truck -- to voice our opposition. The Strong family turned out their supporters too.
If you weren’t able to attend, you can read about it here and here.
We have more work to do.
This was the first of two public meetings. The next is on June 5 at 6 p.m. at Southold Town Hall. It is critically important that we have another big turnout and another long line of speakers. Please join us.
And, it is equally important that we keep sending letters to the Planning Board. We have until July 10 to share our concerns.

Unsure of what to say? visit our website for a quick review and handy cheat sheet. Super short version: Strong's project would cut down 630 mature trees and excavate 134,000 cubic yards of sand to build a pair of yacht storage buildings totaling 101,500 square feet on the banks of Mattituck Creek. More details here.
This week’s meeting was an amazing show of passion, expertise, and common sense; everybody who attended came away energized and resolved to continue to fight for what is right.
See you on June 5, 6 p.m.!
Above image: Strongs will use a 22-wheeler haul truck like this to remove the hillside of sand. A truck will pass your house or business every 7 minutes five days a week for at least 6 months.
