Jake Needs Your Support

Jake Needs Your Support
The Issue
My son has complex medical needs and has been receiving essential support to allow him to stay in mainstream schooling, while a place in a more suitable school comes available.
Jake has just started his last year in Southey Green Primary School and I have been told that they can no longer fund a support worker to be with him.
He suffers from Hydrocephalus, Epilepsy and Autism the combination of which results in him having 'blank' and 'silent' fits, which make him appear as though he is daydreaming. A support worker is essential for spotting these signs so that he can receive the medical attention he needs, to alert teaching staff and his mother and to call for an ambulance.
Without a support worker I fear that these symptoms will go unnoticed.
I understand that every public institution needs to make cutbacks, but I feel by sending him to school under these circumstances I am putting his life at risk, and this is terrifying to me. If I take him out of school he will lose socialisation, an education and a routine he is so happy with. I will also be fined for withdrawing him.
I wish that no other mother has to make the choice I do, every day, when I send him to school.
