Designate Amnesty International as Men's Rights Extremists

Today in Dublin, Amnesty International voted to commit itself to safeguarding men's sexual access to the bodies of women under the feint of protecting "the human rights of sex workers". While an official policy is yet to be published, an early draft document makes it clear what organization leaders have in mind.

In a footnote, the draft document states:

"Sexual desire and activity are a fundamental human need. To criminalize those who are unable or unwilling to fulfill that need through more traditionally recognized means and thus purchase sex, may amount to a violation of the right to privacy and undermine the rights to free expression and health."

Understanding that prostitution is not a sex-neutral institution, this carefully worded statement should be translated: "Men's desire and access to women's bodies is a fundamental human need. To criminalize men who cannot or choose not to sexually access women without raping them may amount to a violation of the right to privacy and undermine the rights to free expression and help."

And in a call to support for the proposal, Ken Roth of Human Rights Watch wrote on Twitter: "All want to end poverty, but in meantime why deny poor women the option of voluntary sex work?" Even overlooking the absurdity that poor women "volunteer" for any sort of abuse, this statement again conveniently masks the agents: men. Translated, this statement should be understood as "All want to end poverty, but in meantime why deny men sexual access to poor women's bodies?"

In essence, Amnesty International has become the world's largest and most dangerous men's rights organization by carefully avoiding talk about men, and instead focusing on the "agency" of those they predate against: women.

In 2012, the Southern Poverty Law Center made the brave decision to name numerous organizations, Internet spaces, and individuals as examples of men's rights extremism. Such groups include A Voice for Men, the men's rights Reddit page, and "pick-up artist" RooshV. Given Amnesty International's extreme new advocacy for the rights of men to rape women, we ask that you now include them in these ranks and condemn them in the severest of terms.
