Madyson Alexander started this petition to Southern New Hampshire University and

Sodexo food services, our contracted dining service at Southern New Hampshire University, is unhealthy, overpriced, and lacks options for students.

Sodexo fails to offer sufficient allergy options and is insensitive to students who are gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan, etc. There is a small section available to students who have underlying food conditions. Not only this, but many students have contracted food poisoning due to the ill procedures of cooking food, and the lack of attention to cross-contamination. Limited healthy options are available at select times during the day, as well, including the salad bar which is only available at dinnertime- 5 p.m.

Sodexo keeps all money left over on dining plans at the end of the final semester of the year, rather than refunding the money to students to put toward tuition or other beneficial purposes. Sodexo overcharges students for items bought in the Penmen Place in the Student Center- as much as $40 for a 24 pack of waters, which normally would be as low as $2.99 at a grocery store. On top of this, many students are overcharged by cashiers or are given small portion sizes when being served.

All students who live on campus are required to get a meal plan, which ranges from $915 to $2,100. Freshmen students, during their first semester, are required to get a $1,900 meal plan. Students who have health conditions, such as Celiac disease, are sometimes unable to eat food from Sodexo due to lack of options- and even with the lowest dining plan, they are still made to pay at least $1,830 of nonrefundable money that they are unable to put to use.

Help Southern New Hampshire University students get more for their money and college experience with a reasonable, healthy, enjoyable dining experience. Help us explore other options by getting rid of Sodexo!
