Nutbourne West Wildlife Corridor runs north to south between Southbourne and Chidham and Hambrook Parishes. It has been proposed to be included in the new CDC Local Plan. This inclusion will help protect local wildlife moving between the South Downs and costal AONB and protect the settlement gap between Nutbourne, Hambrook and Southbourne.

It will also reduce the risk from current or proposed planning applications due to lack of access to HELAA sites or the sites being partly or wholly inside the Nutbourne West Wildlife Corridor. Without this protection both Chidham and Hambrook and Southbourne Parishes could be at risk from further housing development in this location in the future.
