Dear Planning Board and Board of Supervisors,

We are aware that Southampton County, VA is currently considering a review of its solar ordinance as well as reviewing certain proposed solar projects.

As concerned citizens, we wish to express our support for solar development in the County. The threats posed by climate change and continued pollution using traditional means of electricity generation are known and great, we must all facilitate a better future.

We also wish to draw your attention to the positive economic impact that solar development has on the County, especially in a post-covid19 world when other economic growth is hard to come by. Land lease income and a diverse local tax base will be most welcome in the years to come.

Since solar installations are completely reversible at the end of their economic life, we believe that permitting solar installations now is in the best interest of the County, its citizens, and the wider community.
