Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) is considering sites for a new South Charlotte high school. As part of this process, we would like to encourage the County Commissioners to purchase the available green space behind Olde Providence Elementary School (OP) from CMS. This purchase would provide CMS with additional funding for land acquisition in South Charlotte and preserve a valuable and historic public park - the woods and fields behind OP.  For over 50 years, this green space has served an estimated 5000 families and been independently maintained by surrounding neighborhoods. Please sign this petition to preserve Olde Providence Park and Green Space as a Charlotte Public Park. Please encourage your county commissioner to purchase this land from CMS so all Charlotte children can continue to play on the fields and all of Charlotte can continue to enjoy the woods, walking trails and outdoor classrooms behind OP.
