Stop 24m high multi-operator telecommunications support structure carrying dishes
The Issue
We have been informed that there is to be a 3 mast installed directly behind the houses of St James Road towards the end of St Peter's Road in Greenhills, Dublin 12. This mast will be approx 78ft tall together with antennas and disks. We have been informed that the rays will reach as far as the Holy Spirit Church if not further. The local houses are approx 18 - 20ft tall. This is a well established mature area and extends itself into Perrystown, Limeklin, Crumlin, Ballymount, Walkinstown and all other areas in between.
This area has only begun to regenerate itself over the past number of years and so at least 80% of the residents are elderly. We are aware that there are many arguments in relation to whether these masts are safe or unsafe and as a lot of the residents already have underlining health conditions we do not believe it is worth the risk. We need to support the elderly and if we have learnt nothing from the current situation surely we have learnt this.
The planning permission was presented at the end of Feb 2020 but many of the residents have been cocooning since mid March so have not been aware until now that this proposal has been put forward. We have been informed that we have until the 26th of June 2020 to lodge objections but the 12th of June 2020 has also been mentioned.
We need as many signatures, far and wide in order to have a good chance of Stopping this construction so we are asking that you sign this petition as quickly and speedily as possible so we can submit to SDCC. We believe that ground works may have already started on the construction of the mast but this is still to be verified.
They need our support and we thank you in advance for yours.
