Operation SHAME! (Stop Hurting Animals & Making Excuses).
The Issue
We need 10,000 supporters to march on Columbia and make world news! South Carolina does not allow a Ballot Initiative from citizens (signatures allowed for a proposed vote). South Carolina ranks 45th in the Nation
(Animal Legal Defense Fund/2014 State Rankings), number 2 in the Nation
for Domestic Violence deaths among women ( SC SafeHarbor). Fact!
Those that commit animal cruelty are 5x more likely to commit domestic
violence, oftentimes using a family pet as a way to "get even" towards a
partner, spouse, or significant other. Senate Bill 3 is proposed legislation
to tighten Criminal Domestic Violence Laws in SC, but lawmakers are not
doing anything from the animal protection law side to close the gap. Some
lawmakers are too worried about their SC Constitutional right to hunt &
fish being taken away, rather than address unnecessary abuse, or cruelty
towards animals. Legislators say animal advocates are unorganized and
lack unity. There could be some truth to that. So will we prove them
wrong? March on Columbia when 10,000 committed advocates say YES!
South Carolina will no longer tolerate animal cruelty! #shameonsouthcarolina via Facebook.
