Recently, SCDOT eliminated a large number of left turning access points along US 1 in Lugoff, SC. This has caused confusion and frustration for residents and businesses alike. Currently, the only option to access multiple businesses along US 1 is to make a U-turn at the closest traffic light, or detour using residential roads. We understand the initial removal of the turning points were justified because of safety concerns, however, we believe there is a better option to solve the problem. We are requesting the SCDOT to reevaluate this stretch of US 1 and put in place additional left turn access points or a paved center median that can be used to access either side of the highway.

This decision made by SCDOT is negatively affecting dozens of businesses, making it difficult for many people to access them. It is also creating much larger safety concerns at traffic light intersections. Gainey's Lube Center has been a valuable member of this community since 2003 and now we need your help! Thanks!
