Petition updateSouth Ayrshire Council, Improve Prestwick PuttingPublic Funding Update - an additional £11,560 from SAC
Friends of Prestwick Seafront
6 Oct 2014
South Ayrshire Council have updated us to an oversight in their previous response to our Freedom of Information (FOI) request for funding information. An additional £11,560 in grants were given to Putting Plus. Details can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/PP_FOI_requests
"I can advise that our initial response regarding funding, contained within
EIR/2014/496, was incomplete and I apologise for this oversight. I can now
confirm that Putting Plus (2013) CIC was supported by the Council’s
'AMBITION' project with an award of £11,560."
Total public money that we are now aware of that has been given to Putting Plus for this project so far is £38,560
From South Ayrshire Council:
Ambition Programme: £11,560.00
South Ayrshire Waste and Environment Trust (SAWET): £15,000
South Ayrshire Standards Awards: £1,000
£10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund
£1,000 From Western Recreational Trust
According to recent press they are still seeking addition funding for shrubs and to paint their fence, although the Lottery already gave them money for shrubs!
Putting Plus told the Lottery in their application in Spring 2014 that their projected budget for the year was £29,310, and in the lease support Delegated Powers South Ayrshire Council document of 2013 the projected costs for the year were £33,998. This included £6,825 for wages.
So where has all this public money been spent, and who were the wages budgeted for in 2013? We thought that this was all to be run by volunteers, and that the company directors would take no payment. A duty manager was only hired late in the summer 2014 to help run the putting green

In this weeks Ayrshire Post, in an article about the putting green, Dr Hunter (one of the directors of Putting Plus (2013) CIC) is quoted as saying "All the profits generated are put directly back into the needs of the Prestwick community". So where have the profits for this year been put?
