Save lollipop men and women in South Ayrshire

Save lollipop men and women in South Ayrshire

The Issue

They are the loyal foot soldiers who keep our children safe.

The brave men and women who guard 48 school crossings across South Ayrshire.

But in a bid to save some cash, our council bosses would get rid of them.

And at what true cost?

Is the safety of our youngsters really worth a saving of just £128,383?

Of the many shocking budget proposals put before us, this is a step too far.

In a private document, council bosses admit there is “likely to be significant protest” at their callous act.

On that, at least, they are correct.

The Ayrshire Post, for one, is not prepared to stand by and watch vulnerable lives put in danger.

And this week, we launch a campaign to save the very people who should be LAST on the list of cuts.

Lollipop men and women are the backbone of our primary schools.

Join us in keeping them on the beat.
