JUSTICE FOR SAPS 2019 INTAKE

JUSTICE FOR SAPS 2019 INTAKE
The Issue
My name is Nobuhle Mazibuko. I am from the Free State in Kroonstad and I started this petition due to the unfair and extreme violation enacted by the South African Police Services on the SAPS applicants of 2019. I had applied for the 2019 SAPS intake and I had written the relevant tests. I went for the physical test and the medical evaluations which I passed. We were interviewed as well and those interviews went well. I am a 21 year old and I was only trying to find employment and better my own future in a country where the unemployment rate for youth is very high.
I was in school at the time in 2019 and we were told we would be sent to college to be trained as police officers in April of 2020. I de-registered from the school I was in, clinging to the possibility that I would be caught in the university and trained to be a police officer. We were given beneficiary forms which are official forms and we signed them. Unfortunately Covid-19 hit our country hard and our process was on hold. We were told we would be informed of when the process will start up again. In 2020 already when covid-19 restrictions were eased we started going to different police stations to find out about our process and when we would be going to college. It was at this point we were told by police officers that they do not know when the 2019 SAPS intake will resume. We then pursued Colonel Koetzee who was responsible for recruitment, her details were in all our communication as a point person for questions, she told us she has no idea what is happening with our intake.
This does not affect me, some of us left their jobs and are now jobless with children, others are in hospital. All this SAPS has taken reserves to college, but what about our year?. We have given up a lot for the opportunity to be sent to college and be trained to be police officers. We did what was required of us and made the necessary sacrifices.
I started this petition to demand that the South African Police Service must do good on their word and take us to college to be trained to be police officers. They must uphold the law and their side of the agreement as we are now unemployed and given no direction as to why we have been totally ignored.
Please sign this petition and help us add weight to our plight as we have been cast aside and clearly our voices alone are not enough.
