Covid 19 to be included in Business Disruption Insurance

The Issue

The South African Government has been proactive in their approach to Covid 19. However, the South African Small Business economy will be crippled if Insurance Services refuse to treat the ordered closure of businesses as Business Interruption. While many entities can continue work by upping hygiene and sending workers home in favour of remote work, small businesses such as restaurants and sports centres which require customers to occupy close proximity have essentially been disallowed to operate.

By signing this petition you are asking the government to ensure that small businesses do not close in the best interest of the country only to find that they cannot reopen.

South Africa relies on entrepreneurs and small business owners to solve it's unemployment issues. Should no assistance be provided, these same entrepreneurs will have to endure expenses with no profit, potentially resulting in retrenchment, forced unpaid leave and a much weakened economy.
