Isabelle de Grandpre started this petition to South African Consumers

Many brick and mortar stores in South Africa have been allowed to sell items throughout the lockdown being implemented by the South African government (as a result of COVID-19). We accepted these restrictions and followed the rules to the detriment of our businesses. In fact I once went to a large retail store to check what they were selling during Phase 5 and they were allowing EVERYTHING (even Barbie dolls) to be sold!

MY business may be a fairly small online retailer, but we should be afforded the same opportunity as larger corporations to sell our wares. In fact, it makes no sense that we cannot sell all the products we can access since our exposure to customers is far more limited and controlled than allowing people to go to a physical store!

We ask that you sign this petition on behalf of all online retailers in South Africa to continue selling all the products we have access to during lock down (whatever phase we may be faced with).

I started my business Neat Freak against all odds, like many other online retailers, and we deserve to be allowed to start trading again, without any restrictions.

Sign if you agree that eCommerce is not being afforded the same access to trade as traditional retailers during South Africa’s lockdown.

Yours truly, Isabelle
