SADC countries, which include South Africa are annoyed that their proposals to trade in ivory, in rhino horn and in live elephants failed at CITES CoP18 in Geneva. 

Whilst the rest of the world is condemning the use of wild elephants from Africa in zoos in the USA, China or Europe Zimbabwe is lamenting the fact that they cannot export their elephants. 

South Africa should consider using this opportunity to distance itself from countries that believe in utilizing wild animals for monetary gain no matter the consequences.
