In Jan 2022, For Belles Sake Rescue held an animal surrender event in Minot, ND after recognizing a need for this type of event in our area. After months of planning by FBS, the event brought in 210 local animals into several state rescues with local veterinary teams at event for health screening intakes and vaccines. SVAS transport count to the city of Minot at this time was approximately 250 animals from 9 different states per their own admissions on their public Facebook posts.
The above picture is of the ED of SVAS posting in their foster group. She also posted this same message on their public Facebook page after backlash from Minot residents. Keep in mind that SVAS, under Shelbi Waters direction, had attended 2 previous surrender events in other communities in the state and also was invited months in advance to attend this one in SVAS community. SVAS declined to attend this event in their OWN community.
This post sparked enough backlash that Shelbi Waters took story to the newspaper to continue to bash For Belles Sake Rescue in a bias article.(will post article in next update and continue the post. Stay tuned!)
