As long time fans of both the anime and its source material, we would like to come together to send a concrete message to Atsushi Ohkubo and Studio Bones about the high demand for a new adaptation.

The original anime has captured many people’s hearts and has been majorly praised for it’s stylistic choices but the fan base has also expressed some disappointment with the absence of important arcs and plot changes made due to the manga’s incomplete state.

Despite the manga turning 20 years old this year, the fan base is still active both in Japan and overseas and the most talked about topic is the collective desire to see an animated reboot that faithfully captures it’s source material.

We have seen this happen with series such as “Fullmetal Alchemist” by Hiromu Arakawa. Despite an adaptation coming out it 2003, the anime was rebooted in 2009, after the manga’s completion. That decision was met with an overwhelming support from the long term fans of the franchise and it gathered a new audience, making the FMA series one of the most highly praised pieces of media to this day.

We know this may be a risky decision, considering how much time and resources are required to create a long running animated series, but we are certain that it won’t come without a rewarding response and a big expansion of the already big, dedicated and active fanbase.

Please consider this petition as a valid way of expressing love and support for this series and a collective desire to see it flourish for many years to come.
