Dear Defenders of Miami Dade College:

This summer, thousands of you called upon on the Miami Dade College Board of Trustees to do right by Dr. Padron’s legacy and our community and adhere to the standards and requirements that are in place for the prestigious role of President of Miami Dade College.

OPINION: The MDC community — students, faculty, staff and benefactors of the college who turned out to protest — has had enough of the shenanigans. 

In October, a new search firm was selected and the search process is once again in motion.

Will the Board of Trustees follow the set guidelines and requirements for the presidential selection or will they lower the standards? Will they put together a committee of trusted community leaders to oversee the candidate pool? Will they do right by us and select an effective leader to carry on Dr. Padron’s work and legacy?

As this unfolds, we must remain engaged every step of the way. It is up to us to hold the Board of Trustees accountable as they move forward with selecting a new President for Miami Dade College.

Please join us on November 12 at 9:30 a.m. at the Wolfson Campus located at 300 N.E. 2nd Avenue, Miami, Florida in the James K. Batten Community Room (Room 2106) and demand that the Board of Trustees honor the process and guidelines that are in place to select the best possible leadership for Miami Dade College moving forward.
