Tomba HD: Remaster the Legend of the Pink-Haired One

The Issue

Back in 1998, a little game studio by the name of Whoopee Camp released a game into the world called Tomba! (or Tombi! if you're in Europe) for the Sony Playstation. While it got critical praise, the game sold only moderately well. As a result, physical copies of both the original and the sequel, The Evil Swine Return (released a year later) have now become sought after in the retro gaming community. Whoopee Camp has been defunct since 2000, but many of its' former staff have moved to Access Games, a developer whose works include Drakengard 3, D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die and many more.

This is where you folks come in.

While both Tomba games have since been released digitally on the Playstation Store, it only offers fans a small reminder of what those times were like. With the recent announcement at this year's E3 of full HD remasters of the Playstation Crash Bandicoot trilogy coming next year to PS4 completely from the ground up, it got us thinking. Can everyone's favourite pink-haired wild child finally make a comeback?

With your support, we hope that answer can be an emphatic "YAHOO!". Not only are we petitioning for an appearance on Sony's current console lineup (PS4, PS Vita) but also for the franchise to venture into new territory (Steam and Xbox One). Access Games has the potential to help reinvigorate this brand after nearly 2 decades of dormancy. By bringing both Tomba AND Tomba 2 into this new generation of gaming history, it can open up so many doors not possible on previous hardware. More powerful graphics, perhaps even trophy support?

All of this is still just an idea, but with your signatures or simply spreading the word about this, it's our goal that all gamers out there get a chance to help save the world from evil magical pigs. Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you all out in the wild :)
