All major manufacturers - Olympus, Fuji, Canon and now Nikon offer this feature. The pre-shooting buffer would significantly help avoiding missed shots while waiting for action to happen. Wildlife and action/sports photographers will benefit tremendously if this feature is added to the current generation of the Sony full frame cameras. The A1/A9-II photographers will likely benefit the most. A perched bird that's about to take off, a boxing match, a baseball or soccer game are typical scenarios for the pre-shooting buffer.

The camera will be discarding old frames while storing new frames in the circular FIFO buffer allocated within the main buffer, using the currently selected image format and fps. Ideally the circular buffer size should be adjustable in the camera settings, and displayed in seconds. Like "Off", "0.5s", "1s", "1.5s".
