If you purchased a PSTV purely as an alternative to an Apple TV or Amazon Fire or any dedicated set top box device, you'll be in for a rude awakening the next time you visit the PlayStation Store. With the closure of PlayStation Video, another great feature for the PS Vita has been taken from us. In my case, the Vita became my favourite way of watching movie and TV content. Sure, you could only purchase videos in standard definition and some omissions were rather baffling (some movie sequels and entire seasons of TV shows missing on the Vita store, yet purchasable for streaming on the PS4). But it was such a convenient feature to be able to download movies and TV shows to PS Vita and watch them on the go, then continue watching them on either PSTV or PS3 upon getting home. My Vita became almost a portable DVD player of sorts. There were even films and shows purchasable that are no longer easily accessible on DVD or Blu-ray. Thankfully there are alternate ways to get video content on the Vita, and with the Whitelist hack you can force the Netflix app to load on PSTV. But it is still sad to see another great service gone. Now whenever I visit the PlayStation Store on the Vita, it will always be a depressing reminder to not see one tab for Games and one for Videos.
