Seriously, Sony, make up your mind! Is the Vita dead or isn't it?! One again, despite previously hinting that the Vita will be discontinued in 2019, Sony has again surprised us by releasing yet another firmware update: Version 3.70.
Yifanlu and SilicaAndPina have both respectively analyzed this new firmware. According to their diagnosis, the firmware mostly seems to be minor updates to apps like the Calander and NEAR, even though the latter has been dead for as long as I can remember. SilicaAndPina reports that the nprdm keys in 3.70 are the same as those used in 3.68 and 3.69. Meaning that reF00D should still work.
All the same, again, do not update if you value HENkaku. If all you are using is PSVimgTools whitelist hack, 3.70 shouldn't give you any problems. However, if you value exploits that overcome compatibility issues, it may be worth staying on 3.68 for now. As stated previously, h-encore allows you to install Xperi's PoC Vita streaming plugin to allow you to stream Vita's video over USB to a computer running OBS Studio, which you can then output to a television. It's not the most direct, but it's absolutely the simplest way of playing Uncharted Golden Abyss and Tearaway on a HDTV without compatibility issues. HENkaku also gives you the option of installing Adrenaline - which essentially installs a secondary PSP operating system on your Vita and allows you to play PSP and PSone games not supported by the PSTV.
Fortunately, it seems we won't need to stay on outdated firmware for long. TheFloW has already hinted at a new Vita hack for Vita firmwares 3.69 and 3.70 coming out later in 2019. Stay tuned!
