It has been well established that with Mr.Gas's whitelist hack, you can load any Vita game card on the PlayStation TV. Most of the blacklisted games are perfectly playable. But the main drawback with this hack is that it must be done on firmware below 3.55. Because on 3.55, Sony patched up the problems with the PSTV's emailing system that the hack is based around. Meaning that you can never reinstall the hack if it fails after updating. And because the latest firmware is required to access the PlayStation Network, you could not go to the PlayStation Store via the PSTV. Want to buy digital Vita games or PSP games or DLC? Too bad, so long as you were on the lower firmware you couldn't login to the PlayStation Store to buy stuff. Not anymore! For the longest time, the only solution that I was aware of was to buy a second PSTV. Use one for blacklisted games and the other for compatible games and digital content. But it seems you don't need two PSTVs.* It turns out there is a way to access PSN content without updating your PlayStation TV to 3.55. The website HackInformer has a section explaining how to do this. All you need is a PlayStation 3 and two softwares for your computer: QCMA and Vita Update Blocker v1.2. The former is essentially a third party open source version of Sony's Content Manager Assistant and does not require the latest Vita firmware, and the latter provides you with proxy settings that you use to trick the PSTV into thinking it is on the latest firmware when in fact it is not. This will allow you to sync your PSTV with your PS3 without updating above 3.52. And then you will freely be able to transfer Vita games, PSP games, PSone games and Vita DLC that you downloaded to your PS3. I've tested this option and it works! And with the whitelist hack installed, you can even play DIGITAL VERSIONS OF BLACKLISTED VITA GAMES. Yes, you read that right - Mr.Gas's whitelist hack also works on blacklisted digital games! Just last night I downloaded Crazy Market, a blacklisted shopping clerk simulator that entirely relies on the touchpad, and then transferred it from the PS3 to the PSTV. This game was never released physically and has always been free to download for the Vita. And as you can see from my photograph, even that works on the PlayStation TV! This thing is AWESOME!!! This is recommended if you want to swap memory cards between your Vita handheld and PSTV, because the cards are firmware specific. I got a Vita handheld for my birthday last week, and it was set to 3.52 while my PSTV was 3.20. I had to update my PSTV to 3.52. Some of newer Vita games require 3.55 in order to work. While you'd be able to transfer these from your PS3 to PSTV, you wouldn't be able to play them unless you update to 3.55, thus putting yourself at risk of losing the whitelist hack forever.
