The Issue

Update 08-Dec-2024:

I have updated this petition to push Sony to relist LittleBigPlanet 3, instead of asking them to not delist it.

Update 01-Nov-2024:

All LittleBigPlanet games and DLC are now unfortunately delisted from the PlayStation Store. This means there is no longer a legal method for new players to experience these games, and that Sony is not acknowledging the importantance of preserving the legacy of LittleBigPlanet.

Update 08-Oct-2024:

As many of you know, there are community-run preservation efforts. The legal status of these efforts are legally gray, hence the original purpose of this petition. However on October 30th, LittleBigPlanet 3 is being delisted from all stores, making legal preservation no longer possible. We need to push Sony to keep LittleBigPlanet 3 for sale for as long as possible.

Original Petition:

On April 19th, 2024, the gaming community was hit with the devastating news that the servers for LittleBigPlanet 3 were going to be shut down indefinitely. This decision by Sony not only affects one of the most creative and supportive video game communities but also strikes a severe blow to video game preservation as a whole.

LittleBigPlanet (LBP) has been more than just a game; it was an entire interactive media platform home to over 10 million user-created levels that are important works of art in their own right. These levels represent countless hours of creativity, ingenuity, and passion from players around the world. For many people within the gaming industry, LittleBigPlanet was their introduction to their future gaming careers. With the server shutdown, these critical works of art risk being lost forever.

While it is understandable that maintaining servers can be costly and challenging for Sony, there is an alternative solution that would protect this game's legacy - releasing a public downloadable archive of LBP's user-created levels.

This move would not only preserve these unique pieces of digital art but also allow millions of fans worldwide to continue enjoying them even after server shutdowns. It would demonstrate respect for player creativity and commitment towards preserving a critical part of gaming history.

We call on Sony to recognize this issue's importance and take action by releasing an archive containing all user-created levels from LittleBigPlanet. Let us ensure that this significant part of gaming culture does not disappear.

Please sign this petition urging Sony to preserve our shared digital heritage by making available an archive containing all user-created content from LittleBigPlanet.
