A small percentage of gamers have expressed online that the new PS5 controller causes severe wrist pain; also known as RSI - Myself being one of them. We are asking for either: a pain-free alternative PS5 controller (easiest fix - make it identical to the PS4 controller but with PS5 technology), which does not cause RSI, OR make PS5 games playable with the PS4 controller (I know there won't be "haptic feedback" etc. so this may not even be possible.)

TLDR;

Since purchasing my PS5, I played Crash Bandicoot Remastered for approx 6 hours (with PS5 controller), and I experienced some wrist pain. Unsure if this was definately the cause, the next day I googled it and saw some other people were having wrist pain after using the PS5 controller. I then purchased some games off the store, and played Demetrios (just a point and click - not strenious whatsoever) for approx 4 hours (with PS5 controller), and then the next day I had severe wrist pains, this time worst than the first time.

I avoided using my new console until the pain in my wrist was gone - I took Ibuprofen, and about 36-48 hours the pain had completely gone. By this point I was 100% sure the PS5 controller was the cause of my pain. Not wanting to sell the PS5 I had just spent weeks trying to get hold of, I found out online that the PS4 controller does work with the PS5 UI/OS and any PS4 games ran on it (and presumably any prior gen games available via PS Now but haven't tried) - but unfortunately not PS5 games.

The work-around is currently check if there is one and get the PS4 version and use the PS4 controller, but any PS5 only games I won't be able to play on a system I've just paid £449 for.

This means if I wanted to play for example: Astro's Playroom - a PS5 game - I would have to suffer agony for 2 days after, potentially causing myself a lifetime wrist injury. Some people have even experienced hand numbness after using the PS5 controller. When that time comes when I can't resist a PS5 only title, should I be willing to suffer?

I have now switched to using a PS4 controller, and there is no pain anymore. Worth nothing - I grew up an avid gamer I have NEVER experienced wrist pain after using any controller (or ever in general), including almost all of the Sony predecessors - PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 and also PS Vita Slim (probably irrelevant but I never played the original Vita or PSP); plus many other console controllers including but not limited to: NES, Super Nintendo, Sega Megadrive (aka Genesis), Wii, and Wii U.

I am unsure exactly what it is about the new controller which leaves me in agony for several days after, however as mentioned I previously used PS2, PS3, and PS4 controller and had no issues. I can only assume that the agony is either due to the size or angle of the joypad's handles.

The best solution would be making a secondary controller that is the same shape of a PS4 controller. As just making the PS4 controller compatible with PS5 games would not work in any games where the new features are an integral part of the gameplay.

Note: I won't be able to use a third party controller, as Sony has not approved/allowed these to work with PS5 games.
