Invest in a More Reliable, Stable, Safe Gaming Network That We Deserve as Fans
The Issue
As PlayStation gamers, we love our network, its players, and all the great games that are produced for it. PlayStation offers experiences you can't get anywhere else. We all spend countless hours gaming online and enjoying our systems. In this new generation, we pay for online gaming via PS Plus, which we humbly do, knowing that a portion of the money is going to better the service and its performance, that is at least what we think, but based on the current outcome it seems not. Back in the days of PS3, we had maintenance down time, which was understandable for that day in time; the store updated during prime gaming time, which was not very logical, and there were occasional technical flops. But this is the next gen, 2014, and PS4 is thriving, the fan base is growing. PSN on PS4 has been not bad, but not good. After the Lizard Squad DDoS attack, many questioned Sony's promise about security. It seems Sony hasn't invested in DDoS protection as others have. Xbox Live was hit with the same attack, and completely defended against the problem with no damage done. PSN Maintenance seems to happen weekly, its so often. Xbox Live does not go down for maintenance so why should we if we're the "best place to play"? At times friends lists and parties don't seem to work for no apparent reason while on Xbox Live this is rarely, if ever seen. The PS store updates in the afternoon to where as if release dates are pointless for games because we can't get them the first 15 hours of the day while the Xbox Marketplace updates in the morning. In 2011, after the breach of PSN, Sony vowed to create a more secure, stable network so it would never happen again. 3 years later, a group known as Lizard Squad DDoS'd PSN and took the network down. If a simple DDoS took PSN down, how is our personal information kept safe? What does that say to purchasing customers? It says we have a unreliable, unsafe, network. There is no denying it, look around on the internet; people laugh at PSN. PSN is not what it should be and it's time to make a real difference and deliver on the promise. If PSN is going to compete with Xbox Live, then SCEA & SCEE need to step it up and invest in a better network. We've waited patiently though the years and things have only changed little. But enough is enough, you and your fans know it. It's time to upgrade the service's security and server count. We are tired of maintenance, tired of the store updating so late, tired of servers hiccuping randomly. We pay not only for a great service, but a stable one; deliver and we will support your brand for years to come. We love you and the PlayStation brand, but things need to change.
