A major record label to fund United Kingdom Eurovision Song Contest song

The Issue

I have felt offence at an article in the Daily Mail saying that, after the U.K. got nil points at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, record labels no longer want to provide a U.K. entry, because of the external politics and the effect these have had on the national image.

This is in spite of the large number of views the show has achieved, the highly popular movie that it led to, the fact that the winning act Maneskin (Italy) have had 3 top 20 songs since the contest took place and recent successes such as Salvador Sobral, Netta Barzilai, Joci Papai, Mahmood, Dadi-Gagnamagnid, and Go_A, as well as other brilliant acts like Athena Manoukian (who was not able to participate in the cancelled 2020 contest or the 2021 - as her country abandoned its participation at short notice - one but has massive marketable potential and will fare really well when she participates). Acts from Russia, Hungary, Italy, Israel, Ukraine and Switzerland have also achieved major success in recent contests despite negative images of their politics.

Please can one of these labels confirm that they have a collaboration with the BBC for an act to represent the U.K. in the 2022 contest in Italy, and promote it as much as possible, so that it can get the points and restore our morale in the event? It would allow people of all political persuasions to get the moment they deserve and celebrate the country, like Israel’s 2018 win did for them in a tough political period.
